<br />
Now I'm <strike>weeks</strike>... scratch that, months behind on the challenge. Will I be able to catch up before December 31st?! Will my nails ever regrow?! Will I have enough polish to finish the job?! Will I look like a complete fool walking around with Easter nails in the middle of the Summer?! (Likely, hah) Stay tuned to find out... <br />
<br />
For my first new post back from hiatus, I decided to try to catch up on the 52 Week Challenge. When I saw that this week's challenge was a needle marble..well let's just say I was less than thrilled. I've never tried it before but marbling in general was never my favorite. I do have to say it was a quick and pretty easy mani to do, and I suppose for that reason a good one to start with. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-npp0hS4t2zE/UB7QrkP-LPI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/6hldEeCfaOI/s1600/1+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="576" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-npp0hS4t2zE/UB7QrkP-LPI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/6hldEeCfaOI/s640/1+copy.jpg" width="640" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Quick and dirty! I didn't clean up, properly file nails, or car about my horribly dry cuticles. Some may call it being lazy, I'll call it being"edgy". hah I promise next time I'll be better. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1TtwB9TLojY/UB7QujmVE0I/AAAAAAAAAPg/6L2D4cuynUc/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="255" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1TtwB9TLojY/UB7QujmVE0I/AAAAAAAAAPg/6L2D4cuynUc/s400/3.jpg" width="400" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MDeUziVVY9k/UB7QtCZy1sI/AAAAAAAAAPY/zesFeqbQ-nk/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MDeUziVVY9k/UB7QtCZy1sI/AAAAAAAAAPY/zesFeqbQ-nk/s640/2.jpg" width="384" /></a></div>
<br />
I was pretty pissed that right after I finished this mani, I saw <a href="http://www.copythatcopycatnails.com/2012/01/unused-smoky-dry-marble-french.html">this</a> amazing one. I really don't feel like doing my nails all over again though. Plus my nails are far too short for any kind of french design right now anyway. *sigh* As you can see my index finger is shot. It split and cracked a few days ago and made me sad.<br />

Yet another post from "The Graveyard"<br />
Another attempt to recreate Nailside's lightening double bolt mani. Check out the tutorial <a href="http://nailside.blogspot.com/2011/06/tutorial-double-lightning-bolt.html" target="_blank">here</a>! Seeing this reminds me how much I loved doing these, and I think I may have to try this again soon.<br />

The stamping of these lips came out messy and it reminds me of those late nights out, when your makeup is disaster, your hair is wild, and overall you're just a disheveled version of what you looked like 5 hours before. hah You guys know what I'm talking about... haha<br />

I don't know why I never got any before, but I will definitely be buying more in the future. The formula is great and Super Bosa Nova worked great for stamping, and Pretty Edgy covered the tips in one coat! I got some gorgeous colors too, with subtle duochrome micro glitters. They were supposed to be double lightening bolts like I did <a href="http://aseriouspolishjunkie.blogspot.com/2011/06/my-little-secret-for-covering-tip-wear.html">here</a>, but I tried to freehand them and do it without tape and it didn't work so well. I'm not entirely sure what they look like now.. maybe more like some weird abstract flower, but they're green so that's all that matter hah.<br />

Also I'm likely part Irish (who in the hells knows, I'm full of European DNA), so I'm all about St. Paddy's Day. That being said, I'm making this a week of all St. Paddy's Day nails. Yay! Who's excited?!?<br />
Get ready for part 1!<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Phwabam!!!</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ISx_xALpxW4/T11Jf-gvP5I/AAAAAAAAANg/pTEySL4Ay1o/s1600/_DSC0223.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ISx_xALpxW4/T11Jf-gvP5I/AAAAAAAAANg/pTEySL4Ay1o/s640/_DSC0223.jpg" width="534" /></a></div>My trusty dotting tool in action again! I'm really feeling the dotted nails, and the base green on those nails! It's almost a dark green jelly with green glitter. That abomination on my index finger is supposed to be a shamrock, but I failed miserably. It's been a little while since I freehanded a design like that. It's a good thing you can't see my left hand, it's horrible. <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2oMac4yhs40/T11Jg5tH9CI/AAAAAAAAANo/CfZi_c0EuUM/s1600/_DSC0239.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="622" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2oMac4yhs40/T11Jg5tH9CI/AAAAAAAAANo/CfZi_c0EuUM/s640/_DSC0239.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Who says stripes and dots don't mix?!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>I used one of my stripping brushes for this nail. Next time I do this I'm not going to do a light color directly down the middle, it's very distracting imo. Also the stripes were supposed to be random and not symmetrical, but somehow I think I managed to make them mirror each other. <br />

Sorry about that guys... I was overly excited about this theme and over thought it. hah I do that.. Also last week was kinda crazy for me. <br />
So, I guess I decided to do a "Neo-Vintage" design, because I always think of cherries when I think of vintage. I guess that's somewhat of a modern take on vintage though. I also of course left my half-moons bare in homage of the manis from the 20's/30's/etc. They got a little messed up because I did them last night and for some reason they weren't dry when I went to bed a good 6 hours after I did them. I really have to invest in some Seche Vite again real soon! Ok, done talking, enjoy! ^_^<br />

I have a few bags, some jewelry, and wish I could actually fit into her clothing, but alas my hips will never fit into her size 10. I'll just settle for using her for inspiration for manis.<br />

I doubly loved this because of the nautical theme. I triply loved it because it's hot pink, black & White and silver. Just a whole lot of love for this one.<br />

I do have Polka Dot nails, almost on time. Also I'm entering this into <a href="http://www.chalkboardnails.com/2012/02/im-hosting-nail-art-contest.html" target="_blank">Chalkboard Nails' doting tool contest</a>! Yay! I haven't entered a contest in a looong time! You guys should check it out, and enter if you happen to have some polka dot nails on hand (since the deadline is a few hours away.. haha I can't help but wait to the last second for everything! ha)<br />
You can also see the other designs I was brainstorming for this contest <a href="http://aseriouspolishjunkie.blogspot.com/2012/02/so-many-polka-dots-so-little-time.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Hope you guys like it! ^_^ <br />

This is another one of those manis that I did almost a year ago <strike>so I can't remember the color of the pink. Sorry about that.</strike> Wow, my brain just started working again, and I JUST remembered it IS Sinful Colors Creme Pink. Probably part of the reason I suddenly remembered this was because I reorganized all my pink polishes yesterday... which reminds me. I have every polish I own swatched already, so I think I may have "Swatchfest 2012"! Stay tuned... <br />

I wanted to try to do something outside of the traditional newspaper nails, so I did a skittle mani for the base, and also picked pieces out games section of the newspaper. This was definitely much easier than I thought it would be to do, but it did take a little bit of practice.<br />

I've been thinking about entering <a href="http://www.chalkboardnails.com/2012/02/im-hosting-nail-art-contest.html" target="_blank">Chalkboard Nails' Polka Dot Contest</a>, but I love polka dots so much I can't decide which one to enter. I decided to of course do a nail wheel again to practice and get all my ideas out. Also if you guys want to help me decide which one I should enter that'd be awesome too! ^-^<br />

I broke out my trusty well loved dotting tools and got spotting. This is going to be a super long post with lots of pictures so hold on tight! hah<br />

<br />
All the dots on this one are from China Glaze 2010 collection Up & Away, I loved all these colors and bough half the collection off Amazon (for probably too much hah), along with my first stamping kit (the original Bundle Monster one). It was pretty much what got me into nail polish, before that all I owned were shades of black and possibly a hot pink. haha Because of that I'll hold a special place in my heart for it ^-^<br />

I tend to look at other nail blogs I like and take inspiration from them. This design is a knockoff of <a href="http://thatssofresh.blogspot.com/search/label/Stars" target="_blank">this one </a>, from That's So Fresh's blog. It's another blog I really enjoy, so you should check it out!<br />

I had an interview and couldn't really have crazy nails, and then Mardis Gras.. I did still do them on nail wheels, (and I did a bunch) so I think that counts.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Mnlw4YbYPaA/T0RCQWfc7CI/AAAAAAAAAD0/W_AKnthRHI4/s1600/_DSC0534.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Mnlw4YbYPaA/T0RCQWfc7CI/AAAAAAAAAD0/W_AKnthRHI4/s640/_DSC0534.jpg" width="436" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Tada!+funky camera angle.. I'm really enjoying taking pictures of these wheels! ha</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;"> Boy were these a major pain! I used nail brushes, striping brushes and dotting tools to do them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hWmdwL0h8LQ/T0RCOvB_0VI/AAAAAAAAADs/c-D1MGfunR8/s1600/_DSC0532.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="296" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hWmdwL0h8LQ/T0RCOvB_0VI/AAAAAAAAADs/c-D1MGfunR8/s640/_DSC0532.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I looked up different corset nails, and decided to try a few different types. I defintely preferd the ones on the left. I used a combination of the 3 new Finger Paints flakie polishes on the three nails on the left, but I can't quite remember what combos I used.<br />
I also used my new Wet n' Wild Megalast in On a Trip for the purple, and I have to say I'm really impressed with the new formulation. It seems to be more opaque, and the brushes are really improved. Also the bottles are much more adorable.<br />

Winter and acetone (and my horrible nervous habit of picking my cuticles) have taken their toll, and they look like crap! I only realized this after I uploaded the photos off my camera, sorry about that :/<br />
I'm trying to catch up for the manis that I missed from the 52 Week Challenge, because I found out about it and came in late. <br />
I actually did these this morning, and they were surprisingly more annoying than I thought they'd be.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UFJjJp-mxzw/T0VSXfj-USI/AAAAAAAAAF0/iA4pNWinPWk/s1600/_DSC0108.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="522" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UFJjJp-mxzw/T0VSXfj-USI/AAAAAAAAAF0/iA4pNWinPWk/s640/_DSC0108.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The pink in these is surprisingly color accurate</td></tr>
</tbody></table>I like how it turned out, but I don't love it.<br />
My hands were shaky, so my lines aren't perfectly straight. My top coat smeared the design. If I do a plaid mani again, I'd use tape to make the bigger stripes. <br />
I like my idea more than anything and from farther away it looks a lot better honestly.<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The worst cuticle of them all!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>Here's a close up of the accent thumb. As soon as I thought of plaid I thought of pink, black and skulls! I'm really upset that this smeared though. I used the Mash m28 plate with the Konad Special Polish in White.<br />

The more people that know about this the better I'm sure it will be, so spread the word and check it out.<br />

Get out your beads!First off, I want to say it really makes me sad to lose my 73 followers, but as far as I can tell there is no way to transfer them over after I exported my blog to this address. Pretty much I wanted to consolidate my life a little bit, because I'm going in too many different directions in general, and getting everything in one place was getting overwhelming. -_- Anyway, here's to new beginnings and welcome all my new (and old) followers!<br />
<br />
Prefect timing for a celebration too, being Mardi Gras and all! I have to say, my favorite holidays are drinking holidays. No worry about getting everyone the prefect presents, dealing with family, or detailed planning of the day. Only one goal in mind...Have fun(well and generally get drunk hah)! So of course I had to celebrate with a Mardi Gras mani! I've only done gradients once or twice and it shows. :sigh: I'll have to practice. Hopefully you guys get where I was going with this one though!<br />

I don't want them to go to waste so I'm going to post them now, enjoy the first installment of the series.<br />
This is going to be a challenge to remember all the polishes I used, but I think I can do it.<br />
The tips are a little weird because I did this after a few days of wear.<br />

I think I have well over 100 pairs..which is really bad now when I think about it. Shoes are great though. They make you feel sexy when you're having a bad day. You can go shopping for them and they never make you feel fat. They can really make an outfit. Etc..<br /><br />To make this shoe mani really special, I added a bling accent nail, which was a major pain in the ass! The thing that really bothered me about this mani was less than 24 hours after I finished the polish just peeled right off! I was beyond pissed!I think the culprit was old Seche Vite that was maybe too thick.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C8J7tpgaY_Q/TzXXoAZ3y0I/AAAAAAAAAUs/058eXXWlo0A/s1600/_DSC0414.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C8J7tpgaY_Q/TzXXoAZ3y0I/AAAAAAAAAUs/058eXXWlo0A/s640/_DSC0414.png" width="310" /></a></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="488" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IiFX3rafQ5A/TzXXgZuTiuI/AAAAAAAAAUU/_MgI-vzY3Bw/s640/_DSC0398.png" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="640" /></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I <333 this mani so damn much! Next time I'm doing it was rhinestones!</td></tr></tbody></table> To make this blingy accent nail, first I painted the nail silver with Wet n'Wild's Silvivor. I worked in sections starting from the cuticle. I did a strip of top coat then placed a row or two of sequins on it before it dried. I used a toothpick to pick up the sequins. I also did a gradient of sorts, starting with 2 rows of a transparent opalescent color, then two rows of an opaque opal color and then three of a purple holo color.<br /><br />I hope that makes sense. Next time I do it I'll try to make a tutorial.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: right;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HRSbBtyG54E/TzXXjqPAkpI/AAAAAAAAAUc/d1Ew_hZBYMs/s1600/_DSC0402.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HRSbBtyG54E/TzXXjqPAkpI/AAAAAAAAAUc/d1Ew_hZBYMs/s640/_DSC0402.png" width="636" /></a></div><div style="text-align: right;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: right;"><div style="text-align: left;">There's some pink in there, so I think it qualifies for Pink Wednesday :)</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: left;"><b><span style="font-size: x-small;">What I Used:</span></b></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Base Color:Wet n' Wild Cancun </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Stamping:</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Color: OPI DS Signature</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Plate:BM213</span></div>Vegan Makeup Junkiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14218686656516615056noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1213518833179782832.post-19092045933139354092012-02-13T00:59:00.001-05:002012-02-23T13:06:54.230-05:0052 Week Challenge:(I hate) Valentines DaySingle or not, I hate the crap out of Valentines day. I'm not super girly, or mushy, or one to like expensive jewelry or roses (ok, maybe some black ones), never been one for PDA, and stuffed animals make me want to puke. Call me cynical or jaded. For me just spending time with the person you love maybe getting some good food is all I need.<br />
So, I did somewhat of an anti-Valentines day mani. Still complete with the classic red color scheme but with a hit of badass.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OjYDe2y8jeA/T0Z_d7uTVVI/AAAAAAAAAH0/5BAmNJrxOAY/s1600/_DSC0404.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OjYDe2y8jeA/T0Z_d7uTVVI/AAAAAAAAAH0/5BAmNJrxOAY/s640/_DSC0404.jpg" width="634" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This was a lot of fun to do! I hate them. I have a freakishly long second toe, that I can use to pick things up with (I even flicked a lighter and lit someone's cigarette with my feet once...it was a while ago haha). Showing my feet also means showing you a few of my tattoos. So, surprises all around.<br /><br />I used <a href="http://copythatcopycat.blogspot.com/2012/02/valentines-cute-hearts-roses-video.html" target="_blank">this tutorial</a> from Copy That, Copy Cat as a starting point for this pedi. Tutorial & Late Pink WednesdayI'm not personally broke hearted, it's just what I'm calling this tutorial. As soon as I saw this was named "Broken Hearted" this idea popped into my head. I feel silly calling this a tutorial, because it's a little lame, but oh well. I have to work on my "tutorial skills. Ok I'm going to be honest, I suck at doing half moon manis. I guess they're cute if done right, so maybe I just need practice. Also decided to break out the Crackle polishes today! Underneath all those cracks are my horrible failed first attempt at magnetic polish, something else I'm going to have to practice with. hah<br />

I'm back(ish). Life's been crazy, and I've been quite uninspired in all artistic aspects of my life, including nails. Also my nails have been breaking like crazy and are nubs, hence why I decided to try the whole acrylic tips thing. From what I've read the soak off gels, are the least damaging to the nails as well. Hopefully when they grow out a little I can ditch the tips and just stick with some gel, so these babies don't keep breaking on me.<br /><br />Here's the results of my first attempt at venturing into soak gels with acrylic tips. I think it came out decent, but I have a long way to go!<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IHKCvVVTamI/TzKnvDcKgcI/AAAAAAAAANw/1CjPhjoUTqU/s1600/_DSC0006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="630" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IHKCvVVTamI/TzKnvDcKgcI/AAAAAAAAANw/1CjPhjoUTqU/s640/_DSC0006.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-P2-VmCtJKhU/TzKnuFmJhwI/AAAAAAAAANo/hzRkQ2Szk_M/s1600/_DSC0005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="588" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-P2-VmCtJKhU/TzKnuFmJhwI/AAAAAAAAANo/hzRkQ2Szk_M/s640/_DSC0005.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><ul><li>Acrylic tips</li><li>IBD Dehydrate </li><li>IBD Clear gel</li><li>IBD Builder gel</li><li>ECO Soak Off Gel Color in Bare Foot Pink (2 coats I believe)</li><li>Clear gel mixed with some AC Moore glitter, trying to make it as flat as possible</li><li>Another thin coat of Clear </li><li>For the leopard spots just a no name Hot Topic polish and some black stripping polish </li><li>Topped it all off with a coat of the IBD UV Top Coat. I found you can use regular polish on top of the gels, with the UV Top Coat, and it lasts pretty much as long as the nails last, with maybe just a little cracking of the polish. </li></ul><br />My thoughts:<br />Truth be told these were a little thick, but after a few days I got used to them. The glitter on in the tips is a little messy.<br /><br />I used the IBD Soak Off Gel System, (bought it here, <a href="http://www.8ty8beauty.com/uv-gels/uv-gels.htm">http://www.8ty8beauty.com/uv-gels/uv-gels.htm</a>, as I've said before, I love these guys!) for these. I love the whole nautical theme, partly because it meshes so well with rockabilly/pinup style, which I have somewhat of an obsession with. I don't necessarily dress like it...I mean I would say my style meshes multiple genres.. I wear bows in my hair, have piercings, funky colored hair, vary from wearing cute little dresses to jeans, t-shirts and Converse.
